National Museum of the American Indian | Abigail Kirsch

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) George Gustav Heye Center in New York opened in 1994 at the Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House on Bowling Green.  One of the most splendid Beaux-Arts buildings in New York City, this vast seven-story building was designed by Cass Gilbert in the early 1900s.  Rich in architectural and historic significance, the U.S. Custom House is on the National Register of Historic Places.

The privilege of entertaining clients and other guests at NMAI is reserved for corporations and non-profit organizations that hold a corporate membership or sponsor an exhibition. The museum’s varied and flexible rooms include a 325 seat theater.
