About the Metropolitan Building
Built in 1909—the same year the Queensboro Bridge was built—the Metropolitan Building is a historic warehouse with unique charm and character in Long Island City, NY. Originally an electrical parts factory, the building went vacant 70 years later and fell into a sad state of disrepair. In 1980, Eleanor Ambos, who had a successful antique furniture rental business in Manhattan, bought the building for storage space and to accommodate a variety of artisans to set up their studios and workrooms. It quickly transformed into a venue for photo shoots and films. This truly unique space will inspire your imagination, whether you’re planning a wedding or other special event.
