the story

After meeting at Gettysburg College and dating for five years, Tom proposed on the steps overlooking the Mohegan Bluffs on Block Island, Rhode Island with the ocean as a backdrop. “I have been vacationing with my family on Block Island since I was little, so it is a very special place to me. Tom even instrumented a plan to have my close friend come along with us on what I thought was a normal day of sightseeing, and she was able to capture pictures of the proposal!” says Liz. “When it came time to visit venues, the couple looked at several in the Westchester area. “Tappan Hill stood out to us. We were obviously struck by the beauty of the venue overlooking the Hudson River, but we were also extremely impressed with how welcoming and professional everyone was,” says Liz. “We got the feeling that everyone at Tappan Hill was there to make the wedding planning process and the wedding day as stress-free for us as possible. After that, the descriptions and photos of the food sealed the deal!”

wedding style

“We didn’t have a definitive wedding theme, but the style could probably be described as romantic or fairytale-like,” says Liz. “We incorporated this with twinkle lights covering the entire ceiling, lanterns lining the ceremony aisle, and white and blush pink centerpieces.”

favorite menu item

Tom: The Artisan Steakhouse Beef
Liz: Souffle and Spiked Sip

memorable moments

“Our favorite moment was at the reception when all the guests came out on the dance floor for the first dance set. It was exactly how we envisioned everyone to be celebrating with us,” recalls Liz. “And the most unexpected moment was when Tom decided to really go for it during the cake cutting and smash the cake into my face and hair!”

what guests are saying

“We have heard two things from the majority of the guests. First, the ceremony space was so beautiful, especially with the sunset right before the ceremony started,” says Liz. “Second, the food was amazing and they couldn’t believe the assortment at the cocktail hour!”
