Featured Wedding: Alix & Benny

Alix & Benny
August 9, 2014 @ The Loading Dock

The Story

“Benny and I have a standing date every Thursday at our local sushi restaurant. This particular week, we chose to double-date with two friends on a Wednesday,” says Alix. “The four of us had plans to meet on my roof for a glass of wine before dinner. Our friends cancelled at the last second, but Benny insisted we still have a drink upstairs. We were drinking wine, talking about the day and before I knew it, Benny was down on one knee. A photographer appeared and I knew exactly what was happening. I’m sure Benny said something really nice, but it was such a blur that I can’t remember! Before I knew it, I had a beautiful ring on my finger and we were engaged! It was official – I was the luckiest girl in the world.”

Wedding Style

To play off the vibe at The Loading Dock, the couple opted for an industrial chic/modern classic style for their big day. “We had a stunning Chuppah suspended from the ceiling that cascaded down as if it was floating along with clear glass orbs filled with candles and white mini calla lilies,” says Alix. “Glass cylinders with water and floating candles framed the white fabric aisle, and tilted cube vases with flowers on the cocktail tables were illuminated by surrounding votives. Tall arrangements of white trumpet calla lilies mixed in with shorter glass vases sat atop the most gorgeous table linens. And my favorite…modern glass “South Beach” chandeliers suspended over the dance floor. It was so chic and so gorgeous.”

Memorable Moments

“At the end of our cocktail hour, the ballroom doors opened up and the band was performing for an empty room. It was so exciting,” says Alix. “It was also so thoughtful and unexpected when our event manager told me that my sneakers (monogrammed Chuck Taylors – a gift from my mother-in-law) were waiting under my table so I could slip them on when my feet started to hurt.”

What Guests are Saying

“That it was elegant, understated, classic, gorgeous and FUN. Our guests have been raving about the band, the relaxed atmosphere, and the incredible food. I’m a little biased, but it was the best wedding I’ve ever attended,” says Alix. “AK will give you the wedding of your dreams. They are professional and fun to work with. Your guests will love the food and the amazing venues. I would do it all again and wouldn’t change a thing.”
