Featured Wedding: Kait & Chris @ Current

During the holidays, Kait and Chris had decided that in lieu of Christmas gifts they would go out to an expensive dinner together at Del Posto. “As we were getting ready to go out to dinner, we were having some drinks at our home, and Chris asked me to grab him one,” Kait says. “When I reached to get him one, there was only one can there and it was wrapped with the words ‘Kait, will you marry me?’ (It was my favorite cider —Downeast — and it sits on our shelf unopened to this day).” Following the proposal, the two shared an amazing dinner and went to meet a few friends to celebrate at The Chelsea Bell. “When we arrived it was more than a few friends — more like 100 friends and family there to celebrate us. We had our engagement party right then and there. It was, up until my wedding, the best night of my life,” says Kait.
“We didn’t have a vision. We knew we were excited, in love, and ready to celebrate. We wanted it to feel like us, so the
colors were loud and bright, but of course still elegant. I do so many events a year and love them all, so it was difficult to narrow down what I was looking for. I tried my hardest to not get caught up in the design details and let Jes Gordon handle that,” says Kait. The couple did have a recurring theme of pineapples. “Pineapples, the international sign of hospitality, are hidden all over our house in the décor. In the days of Christopher Columbus, if there were pineapples at a dinner or party, it meant that the host spared no expense for their guests to have a great time. That embodies, Chris, myself and our families. We didn’t have the most extravagant wedding, but we certainly had the most hospitable one and made sure every detail in place was to ensure the comfort and happiness of our guests.”
favorite menu item
“We both LOVED the mushroom steak fries, which is unusual since Chris is a huge meat eater,” says Kait. “Both our entrees were delicious. (Chris had the Artisan Steakhouse Beef with peppercorn dusted beef filet, caramelized cipollini onions, ak-1 sauce, duckfat rosemary roasted fingerlings, cauliflower creamed spinach; and Kait had the Tuscan Branzino with tomato fennel sauce, smoked tomato jam, saffron basil parmesan risotto, asparagus, leek & pea shoot sauté). We actually sat down and ate!”
“The most unexpected moment was probably both of us getting thrown up in the air like we were rags dolls!” says Kait.
what guests are saying
“Our guests have never been to a wedding like ours and continue to rave about it,” says Kait. “People literally did not sit the entirety of the night. It was such a lively and fun party.”
