AK Caters AMC Network Upfront!
AMC took their 2014 upfront to the next level by allowing 600+ guests to fully experience their roster of new and returning shows like The Walking Dead, Mad Men, TURN and Better Call Saul. Abigail Kirsch was thrilled to work with network as well as Empire Entertainment to bring the experiential event to life.
The event, held at Basketball City at Pier 36, kicked off with a cocktail reception as guests sipped on our Blood Orange Jalapeno Margarita and Hudson Valley Bourbon Cocktails. From there, guests were seated at long banquet tables in a room surrounded by 100’ long screens. The real surprise came with AMC celebrity guests were each seated at each table, including Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss, John Slattery, Christina Hendricks and January Jones of Mad Men; Andrew Lincoln, Danai Gurira, Steven Yeun, and Lauren Cohan of The Walking Dead; Bob Odenkirk and Jonathan Banks of Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul.
The first two courses were themed to the programming, where the amuse bouche was a “Keens” Caesar with a parmesan flan to capture the NYC Mad Men era. Next was the Los Pollos Hermanos Fried Chicken served in branded takeout boxes in honor of the Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul. Guests then enjoyed their Braised Short Rib while watching a TURN themed Revolutionary War battle reenactment in the aisles complete with musket smoke effects. The end of the seated meal concluded with closing remarks from AMC execs who were cut off by a Walking Dead Zombie Attack with over 40 walkers ‘chasing’ guests into the after party.
The Halt and Catch Fire 80s-themed and retro arcade game-filled after party gave guests a chance to take photos with the talent. In between games of Space Invaders and PacMan, guests snacked on Neon Rice Crispie Treats, Pac Man Pies, Reese’s Pieces Salted Caramel Brownie Bites and Domino Mini Ice Cream Sandwiches under the glow of a giant Lite Brite.
